Sunday Night at the Metropolis 29th October 2006.

Well, we are just about to slide into the month of November, for us here in Panama that is the "Mes de la Patria" Patriots Month. Everywhere around the country and on nearly all of the buildings the Panama flag is displayed proudly, as well as plenty of holidays, for your diary we have listed them here:
3rd November, Separation from Colombia
, 4th November, Flag Day, 6th November, Colon Day (celebrated only in Colon), 10th November, Los Santos Uprising Day, 28th November, Independence Day (celebration of independence from Spain).
Health Tourism is a fast developing industry now in Panama, we looked at one company "Pana-Health" which is specializing in this field linking the medical expertise available in the country with ability to take advantage of the not just the natural beauty with a tourist package structured around your treatment, but of course the sizable difference in costs. For more info check out www.pana-health.com
.
Updates of course on events that are in the pipeline in the coming weeks, as well a some great music including a couple of tracks from Robbie Williams new album "Rudebox"

Sunday Night at the Metropolis 22nd October 2006

No interviews this week so for the first hour some oldies, Gerry has brought in a theme around the old "Pirate Radio" ships that moored off the coast of England in the early sixties with some sound bites from "Radio London" (if you are interested in reading more about those pioneering days check out: www.paulplu.demon.co.uk/whos_who/pirates.htm). We stayed this week with the World Wide Web for our small medical info slot mentioning the yahoo directory of medical sites check it out at http://dir.yahoo.com/health a tremendous resource for medical information.
John Mac as usual gets us up to date with this weeks news headlines and in the second half plenty more info on upcoming events and opportunities in Panama. Any news? any greetings? Just want to say hi? Drop us a line metro@on-the-radio.com

In this weeks program in the medical info segment we give out information on the
major Hospitals in Panama City, contact and emergency numbers.
Sandra Snyder joins Gerry in the studio to talk about the second publication of her book "Living in Panama" a guide for all newcomers. She also tells us about her work with the "Who's new" (you can find out about Who's New at www.wnpan.org) and a book that she and her husband wrote which is about their experiences in getting to Panama "Spies, Crooks and Others Along the Way" by the way they did the journey by sailing yacht.
John Mac gives the Local News Headlines, of particular interest is the findings with regards to the epedemic that had been gripping Panama causing many deaths. (we are now providing the news feed as a separate stream so you do not have to listen to the whole program, but you don't know what you are missing!).
