The first half of todays program is taken up with an interview with Sam Talifiero. Sam is the developer of " Valle Escondido" in Boquete in the province of Chiriqui, and also promotes "Los Molinos". We talk to Sam as we walk about Valle Esondido and ask him not just about his own developments but opinions on the development of real estate in Panama in general.
Next week we have back in the studio David Young with another "Bio" on this time an Aussie well known for his digeree do as well as his painting. Coming up the following weeks an interview with Joseph Salterio, CEO and President of HSBC Bank in Panama.

Back in the sixties there was a government scandal that involved two people that were born in February, find out which two in the "Profumo affair" had Feb birthdays by listening to David Young's two part piece in this weeks show. John McKendrick is up in Scotland taking exams so no letter from London but we do have a three minute history of the City of London. John Mac passes on this weeks Panama news as usual, including the $700 million contract awarded to a British company to develop the area of the old Howard air base.

We had a small biography on the legendary Sir Stanley Mathews who was born in February, played his last match in February and also died in February. Linking with this topic we have a couple of football orientated tracks including a mix of "You'll never walk alone" by Gerry and the Pacemakers and the KOP Choir!. Sorry the update is a couple of days late this week... David Young did a special segment on a crimainal case in England which was partly responsible for the abolishing of hanging in the UK. A topical subject due to the recent macabre events in Iraq, this particular tale was about Derek Bentley who was hanged for the killing of a policeman, though it was his partner in crime who (which is also subject to doubt) pulled the trigger, his partner who was 16 was a minor and served 10 years.

What started as a quip in last weeks program regarding airline service, spawned a number of stories of bad treatment and unadulterated over pricing, which we mention in this weeks program. Well it is party night in Panama as well as virtually everywhere else on the globe, so we have keep the program in the party spirit, plenty of music! Next week Sunday Night at the Metropolis gets back to its normal format. RADIO METROPOLIS AND THE PANAMA BROADCASTING CORPORATION INCREASE ENGLISH PROGRAMING HOURS.

With effect from the 1st of January 2007 Radio Metropolis 93.5 FM and the Panama Broadcasting Corporation S.A. will broadcast on Monday and Friday from 6pm until 7pm and as usual on Sunday from 7pm until 9pm. The new programing will encompass the local news headlines, information and top of the line entertainment. On Monday's DJ John Wolff will be introducing "Car-toons" a classic rock progam to get you home and on Friday's James Sebastian with "The weekend starts here" an up to the minute pop program, as well as where to be and what to be doing at the weekends.

Christmas Eve is only three weeks away! Although it is too late to start those traditional Plum Puddings and Christmas Cakes, David Young is back to tell us all about their origins and the time to start preparing them.
In our health segment this week we touch on something that had affected me for years Migraine and some of the myths that have been associated with their triggers, we mention both WebMD and Health and Age web sites to check out more information.

Sunday Night at the Metropolis 12th November 2006

In this weeks program: Well one thing was obvious after our laid back program last week, was that you prefer it more up beat! Your wish is our command. Our usual gambit of goodies, in our health snippet we look at a few statistics and recommend shopping around for your health insurance, as well as our popular aerobics spot. John McKendrick's Letter from London this week gives us colorful descriptions of commuting on the Underground and the Costswold market town of Woodstock.

Sunday Night at the Metropolis 5th November 2006.

This is the month where Panama celebrates its origins with Parades, buildings proudly flying the National Flag and adorned with Red White and Blue. This last weekend being the "Main Event" celebrating Independence from Colombia in 1903, there were Parades on Friday and Saturday with school bands as well as bands from national units such as the Nautical school and the Fire department. Also a lot of people leave the city to enjoy the beaches and the countryside. So we took the tranquility of the city as an excuse to slow the program down a bit. Our interview with a doctor on the subject of Medical Tourism has been put back by request a week or so due to the holidays, but we still touch on the subject from the incoming patients perspective. This week we introduce a "Letter from London" a small snippet in the life of the City and England in general as perceived by our man on the spot John McKendrick.

Well, we are just about to slide into the month of November, for us here in Panama that is the "Mes de la Patria" Patriots Month. Everywhere around the country and on nearly all of the buildings the Panama flag is displayed proudly, as well as plenty of holidays, for your diary we have listed them here:
3rd November, Separation from Colombia, 4th November, Flag Day, 6th November, Colon Day (celebrated only in Colon), 10th November, Los Santos Uprising Day, 28th November, Independence Day (celebration of independence from Spain).

In this weeks program in the medical info segment we give out information on the major Hospitals in Panama City, contact and emergency numbers.
Sandra Snyder joins Gerry in the studio to talk about the second publication of her book "Living in Panama" a guide for all newcomers. She also tells us about her work with the "Who's new" (you can find out about Who's New at www.wnpan.org) and a book that she and her husband wrote which is about their experiences in getting to Panama "Spies, Crooks and Others Along the Way" by the way they did the journey by sailing yacht.
John Mac gives the Local News Headlines, of particular interest is the findings with regards to the epedemic that had been gripping Panama causing many deaths. (we are now providing the news feed as a separate stream so you do not have to listen to the whole program, but you don't know what you are missing!).
There is information on a number of local events including a couple of boat trip opportunites, halloween parties to name a few.
